EDUCATION

Primary Education
The government of Rwanda has made primary education free for all children in public schools, although families do have to bear the cost of school related expenses like uniforms and books.
 
Secondary Education
Secondary education in Rwanda is not free, however the Rwandan government provides a limited number of merit based scholarships to some secondary school students.

Number of students we supported:
2018
  • 201 Students: 189 secondary students; 12 primary students
  • Total cost: $65,515

2017
  • 228 Students: 192 secondary students; 36 primary students
  • Total cost: $66,420
​Higher Education
2018
We pay tuition for three students enrolled in Public Health Master's degree program: a Medical Doctor, a Physiotherapist, and a Nurse.
  • Total cost: $20,649 ($6,883 per student/per year)
​We pay partial tuition for one PhD candidate for Research in Cancer Epidemiology.
  • Total cost:  $15,000 partial tuition
  • ​$165 supports a primary student for an entire year. This includes school supplies, medical insurance, and breakfast

  • $315 supports a secondary student for an entire year. This includes school fees, school supplies, and medical insurance
2019
Number of students we supported:
We paid school fees for
  • 167 Students: 162 secondary students; 5 primary students
  • Total cost: $58,970.77
Higher Education
We pay tuition for eleven students enrolled in Public Health Master's degree program: a Medical Doctor, a Physiotherapist, and a Nurse.
  • Total cost: $9,800.00

PICK UP DAY FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES


HEALTH

​Counseling program
We offer free psychological support for nearly 100 vulnerable men, women, and children.

Medical insurance
We pay yearly medical insurance payment for vulnerable students in primary and secondary school.
Insurance cost is $3 per student/per year

  • 2017: 228
Nutrition
We provide breakfast to the primary school students of vulnerable families.
Breakfast cost is $122 per student/per year
