Research for Development (RD Rwanda)
RD Rwanda is a locally registered non-governmental organization in Rwanda dedicated to research and scientific capacity building.
RD Rwanda is home to the overarching Einstein Rwanda Research and Capacity Building Program (ER-RCBP), which has been directing and operating all of our Rwandan research activities since 2015. Through a partnership with the Rwanda Military Hospital (RMH), RD Rwanda oversees ER-RCBP’s 3-room clinical research site and its molecular diagnostic research laboratory and biorepository, on the grounds of RMH. ER-RCBP also maintains a clinical research site at the Kicukiro Health Center. RD Rwanda through the ER-RCBP supports junior and senior investigators in their research endeavors through procurement, operational procedures, grant writing, capacity building, grant applications and submissions processes. ER-RCBP is a multi-institution research initiative that has implemented multiple projects in RMH, founded in 201x by Prof Kathryn Anastos and fellow researchers from both Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Drs. Adebola Adedimeji, Marcel Yotebieng, etc.) and Rwanda (Prof. Leon Mutesa, Dr. Gad Murenzi) along with other experienced scientific mentors, grant administrators and medical research leaders in Rwanda and the US. As leaders in the field, those institutions have extensive resources that facilitate study implementation and offer a platform of success for this program. RD Rwanda maintains national and regional partnerships to enhance research program capacity at RMH and other Rwandan institutions, mainly the Referral and teaching hospitals, ~20 community health centers, the Ministry of Health (MoH) through Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) as its implementing institution and the University of Rwanda (UR). RD Rwanda streamlines project implementation and supports the MPIs and Co-Is with administrative and financial management, such as reporting to the funders and partners with transparency and accountability. |
